8″x10″ Prismacolor colored pencils on Strathmore Bristol Vellum, 2014. My yellow lab is big and lovable, weighing about 110 lb. Working from a photo to practice blending and contrast. Prismacolor pencils are soft and bright, ideal for color composition and blending.

“The Local Herd” 8″x8″ Prismacolor and Verithin colored pencils on Strathmore Bristol Vellum. Deer lounging in my back yard shade; working from a photo to practice blending and contrast. Verithin pencils are harder and more permanent, so I use them to lay down the basic drawing and dark color scheme. Prismacolor pencils are softer and brighter, so I use them for color composition and blending.
